Self-Driving Coalition Urges Indiana State Senate To Reject HB 1341

Washington -- Today, the Self-Driving Coalition for Safer Streets released the following statement from general counsel David Strickland urging the Indiana State Senate to reject HB 1341:

“Self-driving car technology can improve traffic safety, save lives, and offer new mobility options for millions of Americans. The Self-Driving Coalition for Safer Streets is pleased to see Indiana lawmakers recognize the opportunity offered by this technology. We urge the Senate to reject HB 1341 and instead consider frameworks that would permit the deployment of self-driving technology in Indiana.

“States play an important role in facilitating self-driving, but HB 1341 would create a regulatory process that conflicts with the federal government’s existing safety process and regulations — making it more difficult for the self-driving industry to compete and bring the benefits of this lifesaving innovation to keep Hoosiers safe.”
